Relax in the quiet village of Mainz-Kostheim. Literally just around the corner is the river Main with its green banks that invite you to take relaxing walks through the neighborhood. From the recrational area "Maaraue" you can enjoy an exiting view across the river Rhein towards the old city center of Mainz. In the summer, one of the largest public outdoor swimming pools of the region is only a few minutes away.

Mainz-Kostheim is a good starting point for hiking and bike excursions. The "Gate to the Rheingau" is known for its vineyards and beautiful scenery. In autum, local winerys offer "vin noueveau" and regional specialities.

You can discover the region by car or public transport. The forrets of the montain range "Taunus" and the vineyards of "Rheingau" can be reached on exciting day trips. You may also go on a boat trip on the River Rhein and enjoy the romantic river, its castles and the famous "Loreley" cliffs.

The cities close to the holiday house represent the modern Germany. Mainz, the capital of Rheinland-Palatina, can be reached by foot or bus within a few minutes. Busses depart almost in front of the house. It takes 12 minutes to go to the modern city center with its shoping areas, museums, theatres and nightlife.

Its does not take much longer to go to Wiesbaden, the green capital city of the state of Hesse. Take a tour through town and discover its magnificent old buildings and natural fountains. Worth a trip is the water-powered mountain train that takes you up to "Neroberg", where you can enjoy an phantastic view on Wiesbaden an the area.

Not far away is Frankfurt, the financial capital the the area, home to the European Central bank, with its skyscrapers, museums and historical sights. Trains take you downtown Frankfurt in less than an hour.
